Sam Webb: “I have worked for most of the major fashion designers including Dolce Gabbana, Cavalli, Armani, Calvin Klein, Viviene Westwood, Valentino”

He is one of the Kings of Milano and has been working with the most prestigious fashion designers and photographers around the world! Ladies and gentlemen, there comes Sam in an exclusive first part interview with me. Specially for my World of Models family, make yourself comfortable Sam!

Hahaha I feel comfortable already, my shoes and socks are off :) I am Sam Webb, from Birmingham in England.

I love boxing and motorbikes. When I was younger I boxed to a high level and wanted to be a pro boxer. I love smiling and I cant dance :)

I got scouted by a weird sequence of co incidences, I was training as a boxer and working on a building site part time when I got scouted in my hometown of Birmingham.I was found  randomly by Dounia, who is now my friend and agent at Select Model Management. At the time I had never been to london and didn’t know about modeling, all I was interested in was a free trip to London and having a free lunch :) .

The best thing about modelling is the freedom I been able to have,  and the life experiences this freedom has brought. I have travelled the world, this has broadened my horizons in every aspect of my life, both personally and professionally. I feel very privileged.

Working with photographers: passion, stretch, focus!

I love it when I am involved in a ‘real’ story that is interesting, something that your everyday man or women can relate to and inspire them and involve them in a seemingly unreachable fashion industry.

I recently shot a story with Branislav Jankic(one of the best and inspiring photographers I have worked with) and  Nicola Formichetti for Gq style, which was an amazing project that is coming out In September that ticks all the boxes, watch out for it:)

I enjoy shoots that stretch my concentration and involves me becoming a character. I have worked with many great photographers and there is only a handful that actually still are extremely passionate about their work! If the photographer is passionate about his art this really motivates me.

Naked sometime? only for something really special!

I have never posed completely nude as of yet, it would have to be something very special and be with a photographer I trust.

I have sooo many funny stories and situations that I can´t reveal yet, I might even later on write a book about all the experiences, it could make a great read.

The catwalks´ experiences

My first ever catwalk was Dolce and Gabbana, I remember speaking to Domenico Dolce for a good 15 minutes and not realizing who he was. I was soo naive and only 19 at the time. I look back and cringe at some of the things I was saying. I was saying how I wanted to go home and how I didn’t understand what was going on, we now laugh together about that chat we had 6 years ago.

I have worked for most of the major fashion designers including Dolce Gabbana, Cavalli, Armani, Calvin Klein, Viviene Westwood, Valentino,

Male models X Female models, a fair competition in the fashion business?

Women definitely still rule the fashion business in terms. I feel that women definitely have a lot more exposure and admiration for being models. I can see the logic behind this as a lot of young girls would want to be a model, whereas on the other hand I feel not many young boys aspire to be models.
